2. Roger Staubach (QB 1969-1979)
The Dallas Cowboys were the team of the 1970’s, thanks in large part to the steady play of quarterback Roger Staubach. Receivers weren’t as talented in the 1970’s as they are now and the passing games weren’t as complex. Despite that, Staubach was a consistent performer for the Cowboys during the franchise’s most successful decade. There aren’t many football fans out there that will argue Staubach wasn’t the consummate team leader. But he was more than just a leader. He was the most talented quarterback in an era where QB’s were game managers as opposed to play makers. Staubach made plenty of plays for Dallas in the 1970’s. He’s one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time.
