6. Bill Belichick

With Belichick’s NFL coaching storyline incomplete, he has a good chance of moving up the list of 9 best head coaches in NFL history. Considered a defensive genius, Belichick devised a game plan that disrupted the powerful offensive of the heavily favored St. Louis Rams during the 2001 Super Bowl. However, Belichick’s NFL coaching legacy stands on the offensive side of the ball. Belichick selected an unknown Michigan quarterback in the sixth round of the 2000 draft. Tom Brady and Belichick have combined for more wins as a quarterback-head coach tandem than any other tandem in NFL history. Bill Belichick has also developed several NFL head coaches, including Romeo Crennel, Charlie Weiss, and Nick Saban.
